Their attorney said three weeks ago that he wasn’t planning to name any of them as defendants but not until today did he formally pull the plug. That’s super, but it doesn’t change the fact that we got jobbed on the “John Doe” provision. A true immunity statute would empower the court to dismiss the suit before it goes to trial; the provision we ended up with lets CAIR et al. litigate to the bitter end, with the only penalty available for a bogus claim being an award of attorney’s fees. That’s an exceptionally weak deterrent given the willingness and financial ability of certain Islamist elements to sue their critics into silence. Remember, according to the Wash Times, the lion’s share of CAIR’s $3 million budget comes from just two dozen or so donors; obviously someone has the wherewithal to advance their agenda, and thanks to the “John Doe” flaw, they’ll have every opportunity. In all likelihood it’s the bad publicity the imams have gotten over this incident, not the law, that led them to cut their losses this time.

Blogger Thoughts: Marie Therese misses the meaning of this big time. The Imams were almost certainly doing a acting job (similar to Mel Gibson’s fake anti -Israel ranting incident).

News Hounds: Hannity’s Guest Admits Flying Imams Were in Dan… On Sunday night’s edition of Hannity’s America host Sean Hannity wallowed in an orgy of xenophobia. First he did a smear job on the “flying Imams” by interviewing three of the passengers who originally panicked and reported the Muslim men. He gloated over the fact that the Congress had passed a bill protecting “John Does” from lawsuits. After this, he made the mistake of arguing with attorney Stanley Cohen, counsel for the legally elected Hamas government. Hannity should know better than to debate liberal attorneys. He always loses. After whining that the Democrats have raised $100 million more than the Republicans, Hannity aired footage of himself mounted on his trusty steed, as if he was Hop-a-long Hannity, Texas Ranger, riding with the El Paso Border Patrol to round up cattle rustlers and other varmints. The only problem was that Hop-a-long’s crew only caught a sorry-looking bunch of poverty-stricken Mexicans risking their lives to find work. With video.
