Update:
The neocon link to the ABC News scandal
As predicted yesterday, the scandal over disgraced ex-ABC News consultant Alexis Debat continues to spin out of control, with major implications for the way that Americans have been getting their news about the flashpoints that could determine war or peace in the Persian Gulf and South Asia.
The story first broke in Debat’s native France, but here at home Laura Rozen continues to lead the pack on the coverage. Writing online today for Mother Jones, she exposes that there were long-time, serious questions about Debat by some at ABC News — yet those questions never stopped star investigative reporter Brian Ross from airing sensational and inflamatory articles about U.S. meddling in Iran and the hunt for Osama bin Laden, using Debat as a prime source. Writes Rozen:
Subject to Debat: Did ABC Know About Its Expert’s Sourcing Problem?
In the end, it was Pascal Riché, a Paris-based former Washington correspondent for France’s Libération newspaper, who uncovered a scandal at a top US television news network. On September 7, Pascal reported that an ABC counterterrorism consultant, Alexis Debat, had faked an interview with Sen. Barack Obama that he published under his name in a French journal, Politique Internationale, and that he had published other alleged interviews in the same journal with Sen. Hillary Clinton, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan, former Microsoft chairman Bill Gates, and former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan. It turns out, ABC itself later reported, the interviews were apparently fabricated.

Jon Stewart meticulously picks through Monica Goodling’s testimony and finally figures out how the USAs were selected for firing…
From Brooks Brother Rioter to Judge
Monica Goodling says she was given the green light to hire immigration judges based on their political qualifications. So how’d that happen? And who’s been getting the gig?
As a story in The Legal Times last year explained, immigration judges are different from other federal judges in that they’re civil service employees — meaning that there’s a formal application process with the Justice Department’s Executive Office of Immigration Review.

How Monica Goodling played the gender card and won.

Monica Goodling testifies before the House judiciary committee
Monica Goodling and the “girl” card: Nobody seems to want to go there, so we will.
Yet in her testimony this week before the House judiciary committee, Goodling turned herself back into a little girl, and it’s worth pointing out that the tactic worked brilliantly.
Monica Speaks
Monica Goodling, who is currently under joint investigation by the Justice Department’s inspector general and its Office of Professional Responsibility, testified May 23 before the House judiciary committee about her role in the U.S. attorney relocation program. Goodling’s opening statement appears below and on the following seven pages. (For a report by Slate’s Dahlia Lithwick on Goodling’s appearance, click here. For an earlier Hot Document column about how Goodling, who previously took the Fifth, was granted immunity for her congressional testimony, click here.)
Blondesense picks up the story.
Palast has the goods on Goodling’s testimony
It appears to me that the MSM is involved in a cover up for not reporting real news in the DOJ scandal.
It also appears that those questioning Monica Goodling either didn’t know what to look for or they just don’t know how to question.
The Bush-Cheney operatives sent hundreds of thousands of letters marked “Do not forward” to voters’ homes. Letters returned (“caged”) were used as evidence to block these voters’ right to cast a ballot on grounds they were registered at phony addresses. Who were the evil fakers? Homeless men, students on vacation and — you got to love this — American soldiers. Oh yeah: most of them are Black voters.

In the opening to today’s testimony before Congress, Monica Goodling, former Department of Justice White House Liaison, testified that Deputy Attorney General Kyle Sampson lied. At issue was, says Goodling, Sampson’s denial “that he had some knowledge of allegations that Tim Griffin had been involved in vote ‘caging’ during the work on the President’s 2004 campaign.”

This Washington Post Op/Ed Is Excellent — If You Like Shirking Responsibility And Stifling Debate
Update 5/9/07
Media Blackout on Ron Paul Debate Performance
The mainstream media which already had zero credibility now has less than zero credibility following their disgraceful coverage of the GOP debate. The clear winner in the debate was Ron Paul who won several Internet polls rating each candidate’s debate performance. Ron Paul separated himself from the rest of the Republican field calling for an end to the income tax, abolishing the IRS, the restoration of honest money, a foreign policy of non-intervention and promises to actually follow what’s written in the U.S. Constitution. Ron Paul’s popular support should have been the big story considering that a so called minor candidate ended up winning several Internet polls over the corporate approved and chosen GOP front runners. Instead, the corporate controlled media declared either Mitt Romney or John McCain the debate winner ignoring the real story which was clearly Ron Paul.
Building a Better Debate
Too many candidates talking about too much
IF YOU TUNED IN to the recent Republican and Democratic presidential debates, you may have had the same reaction as many viewers looking at the crowded stages: Who’s that? The Democratic debate in South Carolina featured eight candidates, while 10 crammed into the GOP debate in California last Thursday. Voters trying to sort out their presidential choices aren’t helped by debates cluttered with the likes of Mike Gravel (hint: he’s a former senator from Alaska) on the Democratic side and Ron Paul (hint: he’s a libertarian House member from Texas) among the Republicans. If the standard is that any declared candidate is entitled to a podium, we’re going to end up with even more crowded stages in 2012.
Update 5/8/07

Now Yahoo! Censor Popular Support For Ron Paul ABC forced to address Texas Congressman’s campaign, but remain silent on why they scrubbed him from online poll |
Yahoo! News have become the latest establishment media
outlet to ignore and censor Ron Paul’s presidential campaign,
despite the fact that he won Thursday night’s GOP debate
hands down, according to an overwhelming majority that
voted for him in online polls.
You can view all the videos of the republican debate here. After the debate, MSNBC uploaded these videos. They gave everyone a chance to vote on who they thought was the winner. The clear winner was Congressman Ron Paul. He had the most votes from the viewers on the website. Im in the middle of watching the videos right now, so I have no say as to who I think won. However, by the vote count, Ron Paul won. The day after the vote went up, Ron Paul had the most votes. MSNBC then deleted the vote count, there were no other candidates that were even close to Ron Paul’s vote count. Why did MSNBC delete the vote count? Why did they then say the next day that the winner was not Ron Paul? Why does the media try to manipulate our minds?
MSNBC viewers votes on who won GOP debate.
Update 5/7/2007
ABCNEWS whitewashes it’s unconsciable bahavior by posting piece which avoids the issue:
The Ron Paul Effect
Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, who barely registers in public opinion polls of the Republican presidential field, won last Thursday night’s debate.
That was the unmistakable conclusion of the online poll posted by debate sponsor MSNBC, which registered Paul with higher positive ratings and lower negative numbers than any of the other nine candidates on the stage.
ABC’s post-debate Internet survey showed an even clearer victory for Paul, with the congressman taking more than 9,400 of 11,000 votes as of 12:30 p.m. Monday.
(Rudy Giuliani is the next ranked candidate, with barely 150 votes.)
Update 4/6/2007
“Accidental” Media Blackout
It’s ironic that Ron Paul was asked whether he trusted the mainstream media
during the debate–and even more ironic that RP’s answer was that he trusts the
internet a lot more. Despite Ron’s having won both MSNBC polls, victory in the debate,
according to MSNBC, goes to Mitt Romney. Ron Paul, in an MSNBC article written
after the debate, was ranked at #9. But at least MSNBC mentioned him…
FOX NEWS says McCain
won the debate,
and the last substantive mention of Ron Paul anywhere on their website was from
January 11th when Ron filed the paperwork for his exploratory
committee!
But that’s not the whole story. ABC News ran a poll on
their site asking who won the debate and didn’t even include Congressman Paul in
the line-up! Out of the ten candidates in the debate, nine were in the poll.
Why is MSNBC lying?
As we all know, MSNBC hosted the first Republican debate of the ‘08 cycle at the Reagan presidential library Thursday night. They also set up a poll at their website to rate the candidates.
They are now interpreting their results to tell us that Romney “won”.
But according to the results, he didn’t. Why are they intentionally mis-representing their own results?
Ron Paul Demolishes Other Republicans In Online Polls
The mismatch between ”Post-ABC News poll, those more tuned into the ‘08 race” and the post-Republican Candidate debate online polls of ABC and MSNBC goes well beyond normal disparities between “scientific” polling and online polling. Ron Paul leads all other candidates by a more than comfortable margin in the online polls and is hardly even considered a “dark horse” candidate by the offline “scientific” polls.
Glib explanations that “Ron Paul’s supporters are internet addicts…”, as have been advanced on neocon sites such as Freerepublic.com, while very unsatisfying, are at least better than the utter silence regarding the glaring disparity from the mainstream media whose own online polls so drastically depart from their “scientific” polls.
Moreover, at present it appears that FOX News is excluding Ron Paul from the upcoming South Carolina debate because:

I just got off the phone with Senior Vice President of ABC News Media Relations Jeffrey Snyder. He seemed suprised and dismayed the comments were being delelted. I told him I will to promote the story of the blatant censorship using my websites I affiate with, social networking sites, et al., until I personally feel they have gone above and beyond rectifying the situation and that he should begin working toward rectifying the situation on his end. I made my stance clear, and gave my full real name and location. He was genuinely impressed and thankful for bringing this to his attention. He had no idea any of it was going on.
