As readers may notice, Chip Berlet visited this blog and left a comment.

He challenged me to articulate thoughts regarding his performance in the History Channel piece. Several years ago, I had an email exchange with Mr. Berlet. (I wouldn’t say that I said anything which would have been memorable in my question and follow up email to him.)

Rather than address the argument of what he said in the video, and why I find his words intentionally misleading, I’ll simply share this link about him:

Note: I have left out the reference to Sean McBride (as being an online alternative identity of Berlet, as I find no way to evaluate that charge and have seen no trail of evidence which would lead that direction.

In summary, I would outline the following possibilities as crude speculation to account for Mr. Berlet’s commentary about 9/11 and his attitude toward those of us who have alternative theories about what happened on 9/11:

1. He really is quite dull witted.

2. He is “bought off”.

If the explanation lay with #1, I pity you, Sir.

If the explanation is #2, I hope you have extracted a tidy sum for you compliance.

* History Channel plucks the “heart-strings”.

This white-wash of the issues will only convince the 98% of Americans who aren’t paying attention.

* No discussion of the fact that the 9/11 Commission have stated publicly that the Miltary lied in testimony about the flights, notification of Norad, scrambling, etc.

Bottom Line: According to History Channel, people who have concerns about about what happened on 9/11 are egotistical, narcissistic and have espoused an impossible certainly about their alternative theories.

October 9, 2001 — About a dozen of the 19 hijackers involved in the Sept. 11 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon may not have known they were part of a suicide mission, The Post has learned.

After nearly a month of tracking the hijackers around the world, the FBI has uncovered hard evidence that only about six of the terrorists – all with pilot training – left behind hard clues suggesting knowledge of their imminent death.

The evidence was gleaned from documents left by the hijackers and from interviews conducted with relatives and friends, who recalled the terrorists ominously indicating they were on a mission and would never be heard from again.

“These pilots leave behind letters or tell their family that, for all intents and purposes, they are going to die, to meet Allah,” one well-placed source said. “The others did not tell family they would die, at least there is no evidence so far.”

“Is it a coincidence?” another source asked. “No one thinks so.”

The sources also revealed:

* The FBI does not believe any other flights on Sept. 11 were targeted for takeover beyond the two doomed jets that slammed into the Twin Towers, a third meant for the White House that hit the Pentagon, and a fourth airliner heading for Washington that crashed in Pennsylvania when heroic passengers fought off the hijackers.

* Mohamed Atta, a hijacking ringleader, was not really interested in obtaining a crop-duster once he realized how difficult they were to get, and that it was nearly impossible to use it to poison large numbers of people.

From the start, investigators were stunned that so large a group of suicide bombers could be amassed and carry out an attack that took months, if not years, to hatch without a break in their ranks.

“We know that even with suicide cults, several members have to be forced to drink the Kool-Aid,” said another law-enforcement source, making an analogous reference to mass poisoning.

Also troubling was the fact these hijackers did not fit the classic profile of suicide bombers: They were educated, came from relative affluence and, in some cases, had wives and children.

The probers theorize the majority of the hijackers knew they were on a mission to take Americans hostage for religious and political ends.

Investigators also theorize that several of the hijackers may have been lured by an equally compelling promise: money.

In this example James Redford on Infowars.com looks at the 6 cases of people with Arab names similar to those of the 19 hijiackers having connections to US military bases, and calculates the odds of these occurences being mistaken indentities of 1 in 21.7 billion. His misuse of statistics, however, is cringe inducing.
